Her role accountabilities have included global strategic and propositional development, leading and embedding significant change programmes and the planning, delivery and evaluation of high growth and turnaround strategies. In addition, she has pioneered and led global gender equality programmes whilst pursuing her senior leadership career. For example, Jan was Diversity and Inclusion Champion for Barclays Wealth whilst Global Sales Director, and when she successfully led the organisational design review and restructure implementation of two merged Barclays Wealth banking businesses. Her women’s leadership development work led to her being nominated as a UK Woman of the Year 2005. Jan continues to advise organisations on how to increase female leadership participation and the development of female talent pipelines. Jan was a judge for We Are The City ‘Rising Star Awards’ in 2016. In her role as Head of Corporate Pensions, Jan led the team to spectacular results – 240%+ increase in revenues, and was part of Zurich Insurance’s global strategy team which created a new strategic pillar; Corporate Life. She therefore has first-hand experience and understanding of the need for performance-driven, insightful leaders to achieve their business goals and governance obligations. She uses this experience with the clients of The 9 Situations with whom she works on their performance, growth and transformation strategies, with a particular focus on Board and senior committee effectiveness. Jan coaches and mentors senior corporate leaders at board level from many diverse sectors including the military, banking, charities, infrastructure, telecommunications, pharma, travel and utilities. She is a qualified Masters level Executive Coach and Leadership Mentor (from the Institute of Leadership and Management, Europe’s leading awarding body), and was cited as one of the ’100 Best Global Coaching Leaders’ by the World HRD Congress in February 2017. Jan also enjoys the leadership training side of her business activity; in this capacity, she trains and assesses individuals in ILM Level 5 and Level 7 leadership coaching and mentoring qualifications. She has been a guest speaker at the global IWF Leadership Fellows programmes in Vancouver and Atlanta, which are partnered with Harvard Business School and INSEAD, and lectures at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. In July 2017 Jan will speak at the International Women’s Forum’s Executive Development Roundtable Conference in Miami. Jan is a Fellow of the Institute of Leadership and Management. She is past Vice President of UN Women UK, past Commissioner, Women’s National Commission, past member of the UK Board of the International Women’s Forum (IWF) and past Chair of the innovative women’s sector funding charity, Rosa UK Fund for Women and Girls.
